The 349-room Ritz-Carlton at Lake Las Vegas will reopen early next year as a Dolce Hotel-Resort. Dolce is a niche hospitality company headquarteredin Paris and New Jersey, with 27 properties in North America and Europe that are situated just outside major metropolitan areas. It specializes in business meetings and events, thus it could be a good fit for Lake Las Vegas, which is located 25 miles from the Strip and hosts numerous corporate getaways. The Ritz-Carlton closed last May; the reopening of the hotel would be a Las Vegas first since the economy soured.

Cosmo Partners: Operators of the new Cosmopolitan resort, due to debut on the Strip December 15, have announced a deal with Marriott International to becme one of the chain’s Autograph Collection, a portfolio of luxury independent hotels and resorts. This enables Cosmopolitan to market to Marriott’s 33 million travelers—one of the largest customer databases in the industry.

Vegan at Wynn: Not unlike his tendency to obsess in other areas of business, Steve Wynn has done the same with his new devotion to veganism. Every restaurant in Wynn and Encore now offers vegan-friendly choices. No other resort in Las Vegas offers as extensive a choice of vegan cuisine

Cher Today: Gone tomorrow (or at least early next year). Cher has announced that her final show at Caesars Palace will be February 5, 2011.

Liberace Leaving: Also on the way out is the Liberace Museum. After 31 years, the museum on E. Tropicana will close October 17th. The Liberace Foundation will continue to keep the showman’s legacy alive, and some of the memorabilia from the museum is scheduled to be transformed into a touring exhibit.

Question: Is the new TV drama “The Defenders” set completely in Las Vegas?

Answer: Not only is it set in Las Vegas, it’s based on real-life Vegas attorneys Michael Cristalli and Marc Saggese. It airs on Tuesdays.
